An Integrated College
Oakgrove Integrated College, founded by local parents, opened in September 1992. The College has full Grant Maintained status. The College is co-educational and its distinctive feature is the planned integrated character. The ethos of our College confirms a commitment to integration and ensuring that children from different social, religious and academic starting points all have the opportunity to achieve together. The Board of Governors is committed to the maintenance of a balanced enrolment of the two major traditions, with a similar balance being maintained amongst staff and Governors.
A ‘UNICEF Rights Respecting School’, the aims of our College emphasise the overall development of the child, ensuring a growth of self-esteem, self-respect and respect of others. This leads to acceptance and understanding of the many traditions within our society at a much deeper level, built on friendship and trust. It is important that within this we have the acceptance of the wider community and encourage parents to be supportive of the many varied activities and experiences which build on this mutual understanding. The College is very conscious of the important role parents can play in the life of the school and their participation is encouraged.
